BBASI GROUP

The BBASI GROUP saw its first light when Bagong Buhay Arrastre Service, Inc. (BBASI) was registered on October 4, 1974. It was incorporated primarily to service the stevedoring and arrastre, ground maintenance, conveyor/roller repair and replacement, janitorial, clerical and other labor requirements of Philippine Sinter Corporation (PSC). PSC is a large sintering plant, producing over Five Million (5,000,000) metric tons of sinter ore annually, located in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, Philippines inside PHIVIDEC (Philippine Veterans Investment and Development Corporation) Industrial Estate. PSC is one hundred per cent (100%) owned by then Kawasaki Steel Corporation of Japan now known as JFE Steel Corporation.

BBASI is proud of its more than forty (40) years of excellent relationship with PSC, not only as its partner in progress but also as a vehicle of PSC’s Socio-Economic involvement in the community in providing employment to over Five Hundred (500) local residents.

With its years of stevedoring experience, BBASI started operating the PSC Cargo Berth in 1995. Thus, it turned the once quiet cargo berth into a bustling port, handling various bulk and breakbulk cargos. Foreign and domestic vessels started to call on PSC Cargo Berth to load and discharge their cargos.

As the stevedoring activities increased, a subsidiary company BBASI Stevedoring And Arrastre, Inc. (BSAI) was formed in year 2003 thereby making it as part of the GROUP. It specializes in operating the 240-meter concrete PSC Cargo Berth which is now the best alternative port to the major port of Macabalan in Cagayan de Oro City for handling bulk and breakbulk cargos.
